Seldom does the regular Vintage Port from Quinta do Noval score at exactly the same level as the legendary, tiny production Noval Nacional. But it did in 2000. I just couldn't see much difference when I tasted the two blind. So it means a great opportunity to buy a terrific young Vintage Port at a relatively good price. The 2000 Noval shows fascinating aromas of crushed fruit, tar and wet earth that turns floral and aromatic. It's full-bodied and medium-sweet, with chewy, velvety tannins and a long finish.
