2012 Bodega Mauro San Román Toro

Castilla y León, Spain

Founded in 1980, two years before the Ribera del Duero D.O. was established, Bodegas Mauro was excluded from the Denomination of Origin for strictly adhered to reasons of geographical delineation at the time it was set. Produced from 100% tinto de toro grapes, San Román is deep cherry, almost black in colour. The nose is intense and exotic, with raisins, menthol, eucalyptus, and ‘fruits des bois’ all evident. Full, round and warm in the mouth, there is a good weight of fruit and an excellent structure of harmonious tannins. Fine tannins and juicy acidy make this wine drinkable now or worth ageing for 10 – 12 years.
