2014 Ciacci Piccolomini Rosso ‘Ateo’ Sant’Antimo Rosso DOC

Tuscany, Italy

“Ateo,” which means “atheist”, is a statement against the restrictive laws that govern winemaking in Italy and was first produced for the 1989 vintage. The wine, 50% merlot and 50% cabernet sauvignon, is herbal, spicy, and fruit-forward, well structured and full bodied, yet quite soft and balanced with pronounced tannins. A wine with a great personality and long finish.
